TORO partners with Golf New Zealand to support the fastest format of golf
New Zealand’s fastest golf event is sprinting into a new future, with TORO coming on board as the naming rights partner for New Zealand’s most prestigious speedgolf tournament.
New Zealand’s national speedgolf championship will be known as the TORO New Zealand Speedgolf Open for the next four years, with TORO and Golf New Zealand partnering to bring more runners, golfers, and fitness-oriented people to New Zealand golf clubs and inspiring participation in a different format of golf.
New Zealand’s fastest golf event is sprinting into a new future, with TORO coming on board as the naming rights partner for New Zealand’s most prestigious speedgolf tournament.
Last year, the New Zealand Speedgolf Open attracted golfers and runners from around the country to form the biggest field in the event’s 10-year history, featuring the world number one Jamie Reid and the unbeaten Liz McKinnon.
The event’s tournament director, Phil Aickin, says the partnership will enhance the profile and sustainability of the growing sport and help introduce new people to the game as Golf New Zealand looks to capitalise on last year’s success.
TORO has a proud history of supporting golf in New Zealand. Parkland Managing Director Chris Todd is looking forward to promoting a different format of golf to Kiwis that addresses the time pressures of a standard round of golf.
“Parkland and Toro are very proud of our long-term relationship with the golfing community, and we are always delighted to see clubs thinking outside the square to get more people using their courses. We’d love to see more speed golf being played around New Zealand.”
The 2024 TORO New Zealand Speedgolf Open will feature world number one Jamie Reid and the unbeaten Liz McKinnon once again. The tournament will be played over 36 holes on April 20 and 21 at Fitzroy Golf Club.
A speedgolfer’s score is calculated by adding the run time and golf score together.
Registration for the 2024 New Zealand Speedgolf is open.
